If you like chili but you are looking for a healthier alternative to beef, think about using ground turkey. You can make a white chili for a change. The flavor is awesome and instead of using red or black beans, this recipe calls for cannellini beans.
WHITE CHILI WITH GROUND TURKEY
Using some of the same ingredients as regular chili-like chopped onions, garlic, green chilies, cumin, and oregano, you can achieve a great-tasting chili with less calories and less saturated fat.
Your family will love the taste and you can rest assured that you are feeding them a healthy meal.
Use your favorite toppings and enjoy this leaner version of a most loved classic.
HOW TO MAKE WHITE CHILI WITH GROUND TURKEY?
- Using a large pot, cook ground turkey, onion, and garlic until meat is no longer pink
- Add the green chili peppers, cumin, oregano, cinnamon, white pepper, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 5 more minutes
- Puree one can of beans in a food processor or blender
- Mix pureed beans, chicken broth, and the other two cans of beans into the meat mixture.
- Let chili boil for about 5 minutes and add the cheese. After adding the cheese, let it simmer for 10 more minutes until the cheese is melted.
HOW TO FREEZE AND REHEAT CHILI?
If you have leftovers, you can freeze individual size portions in freezer bags and use them when needed. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and heat in the microwave until hot and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes.
Always allow chili to come to room temperature before putting it in the freezer. Once you thaw it, you cannot freeze it again.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH WHITE TURKEY CHILI?
Use your favorite toppings to make this chili even more delicious. Chopped avocado, sour cream, chopped cilantro, extra cheese, sliced jalapenos, tortilla chips, are a few examples.
This is a very filling and satisfying meal in itself. But if you feel you need something extra, serve a side salad with it.
HOW DO YOU ADD FLAVOR TO TURKEY CHILLI?
Spices are your best friends! Cumin, oregano, cayenne pepper, white pepper, and cinnamon add great flavor to this chili. If you feel it needs a bit more salt, by all means, add some.
Taste the chili after adding the cheese, and if you feel it needs a bit more spice, add a bit more. Cooking is always about your personal preference.

Next time I’ll add 2 cups chic broth and also use this to pulse the drain ed beans. As I pulse added half red sweet pepper I used MontaAmore cheddar 🧀. I had extra. Used 1/4 tsp ground hot pepper instead of canned pepper.
Pureed 2 cans bean left 1 can whole. Keep stirring that pot with all that cheese and beans puree.
If you want it thicker use Xanthine Gum. Good luck
Thanks for the tips!
This is a great recipe. My Dr told me to go on a gluten free diet. I felt like I was sent to food prison. Until I found this and a few other recipes on Pinterest. I love this chili so much I’ve made it twice in two weeks. My son and his girlfriend ( who is gluten free also) are coming tomorrow to try it! Love it!
