- In the slow cooker, mix together the gravy packets, condensed chicken soup until smooth. Add some paprika, garlic powder, black powder, and salt.
- Place the chicken breast in the slow cooker and cover completely with the sauce
- Place the lid on and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken and shred accordingly
- Add the sour cream to the slow cooker and give it a whisk. Pour this over the chicken.
DO YOU NEED TO ADD LIQUID TO CHICKEN IN A SLOW COOKER?
In this case for slow cooker chicken and gravy, it’s best to add a little water as this will work out better for the consistency of your dish.
If chicken is cooked alone then no liquid is needed as the meat will produce its own liquids.
RECIPE TIPS
- You can use a small amount of cornstarch in the gravy to make it thicker and smoother
- Cut slits in the chicken breast, this way the chicken will absorb more flavor

Was tasty but got bored with it quick . Nothing wrong with it. It just wasn’t for me.
I made this recipe and it turned out delicious. Plus, it’s super easy. We’ve had it over mashed potatoes and then over rice. Both were so good!
I made this the other day, it was delicious. The chicken so moist, and the gravy was so flavorful. My husband isn’t a big rice eater so I made egg noodles instead. We both loved this recipe very much. So easy, I will be making this again, for sure.
This came out so very yummy. My family loved it and you can’t get any easier, I will definitely make this again
Turned out wonderfully! I even left out the sour cream. It was all done at 3 1/2 hours on low which I was thrilled about. I served it over mashed potatoes. Will make again
I made this recipe, thinking everybody like it, so let me try. Well it is amazing! I definitely recommend it! Full of flavour and delicious!
So easy and so delicious!! I asked my hubby, between 1 & 10, how would you rate this one? He said an 11!! Followed the recipe as written…Thanks so much, for this amazing yumminess!!
Is condensed chicken soup the same as cream of chicken soup.?
YES!
This meal was amazing!!!! So good my daughter got two whole plates full…just wish I would have made more.
Made this tonight for dinner. It was delicious! Easy clean up.
Has anyone made this in the instant pot or other electric pressure cooker?
I made this last week and it was so good. But I don’t have 5 hours to wait today. Thanks in advance, friends! 🙏🏽
I used frozen chicken tenderloins, only one packet of chicken gravy, the can of soup, and seasonings. Cooked on high for 4 1/2 hours. Used fork to break apart into large chunks. Gravy was thick. I forgot the sour cream, but it was still delicious. I ate mine over mashed potatoes and rest of my family ate it as a main dish with sides. We all liked it and I will definitely make again. Easiest recipe I’ve ever used for dinner. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent! Doubled the recipe for a big family dinner. Everyone loved it.
Does the sour cream give it a sour cream flavor?
No. Not at all. At least I don’t think so.
What do you typically serve it with?
Rice is always my side dish of choice, but you could serve it with mashed potatoes as well!
Rice! I have made the same recipe, but added the Ro-Tel tomatoes and less water, excellent!!!
I made it as a main entree. Served mashed potatoes w/the gravy, mixed cooked carrots and sweet peas as my sides, I also included a quick box of Stove Top chicken stuffing and jellied cranberry sauce. Tried it out to see how they liked it because I’m going to make this meal for Thanksgiving as we are not big on turkey. My family LOVED it! Glad I doubled the recipe. It was simple and delicious. Not going to be much “clean up” this year! 😀
lol, I love egg noodles. would also add saute mushrooms and broccoli. will definitely try this!
This was really good! I didn’t have packets of gravy so I used a jar of chicken gravy and only a small amt of water. It came out great. I also used 4 boneless chicken breasts.
How wonderful, Donna! So glad you decided to give it a try!
Do you have to use the sour cream or does it make it tastier?
Sour cream helps to make the sauce thicker and creamier. You can substitute Greek yogurt if you want a healthier version
I have the gravy granules but it’s in a jar. About how much should I use?
Hi shelley thank you for your question. Gravy granules will work just as well. Use 3 tbsp.
