DO YOU NEED TO ADD LIQUID TO CHICKEN IN A SLOW COOKER?

In this case for slow cooker chicken and gravy, it’s best to add a little water as this will work out better for the consistency of your dish.

If chicken is cooked alone then no liquid is needed as the meat will produce its own liquids.

RECIPE TIPS

  1. You can use a small amount of cornstarch in the gravy to make it thicker and smoother
  2. Cut slits in the chicken breast, this way the chicken will absorb more flavor

Has anyone made this in the instant pot or other electric pressure cooker?
I made this last week and it was so good. But I don’t have 5 hours to wait today. Thanks in advance, friends! 🙏🏽

I used frozen chicken tenderloins, only one packet of chicken gravy, the can of soup, and seasonings. Cooked on high for 4 1/2 hours. Used fork to break apart into large chunks. Gravy was thick. I forgot the sour cream, but it was still delicious. I ate mine over mashed potatoes and rest of my family ate it as a main dish with sides. We all liked it and I will definitely make again. Easiest recipe I’ve ever used for dinner. Thanks for sharing!

Does the sour cream give it a sour cream flavor?

No. Not at all. At least I don’t think so.

Rice is always my side dish of choice, but you could serve it with mashed potatoes as well!

I made it as a main entree. Served mashed potatoes w/the gravy, mixed cooked carrots and sweet peas as my sides, I also included a quick box of Stove Top chicken stuffing and jellied cranberry sauce. Tried it out to see how they liked it because I’m going to make this meal for Thanksgiving as we are not big on turkey. My family LOVED it! Glad I doubled the recipe. It was simple and delicious. Not going to be much “clean up” this year! 😀

This was really good! I didn’t have packets of gravy so I used a jar of chicken gravy and only a small amt of water. It came out great. I also used 4 boneless chicken breasts.

Do you have to use the sour cream or does it make it tastier?

Sour cream helps to make the sauce thicker and creamier. You can substitute Greek yogurt if you want a healthier version

Hi shelley thank you for your question. Gravy granules will work just as well. Use 3 tbsp.
