WHAT DOES YOGURT DO FOR BREAD?
Yogurt is a great ingredient for baking. The acidity of the yogurt works great with baking soda and your cake turns out light and fluffy.
Also, yogurt contains less fat than sour cream, which makes your easy yogurt bread lower in calories. And finally, making bread with yogurt makes it flavorful and moist.
CAN YOU USE GREEK YOGURT INSTEAD OF PLAIN YOGURT?
Yes, you can easily replace vanilla-flavored yogurt with Greek yogurt.
WHAT CAN I SUBSTITUTE FOR YOGURT IN A BREAD RECIPE?
I don’t recommend substituting sour cream, milk, or buttermilk for this bread recipe with yogurt, because it won’t turn out as pretty, as sweet, as moist as this one.
If you don’t have yogurt, but want to prepare some delicious bread, I recommend you to prepare one of these bread recipes: Sweet Cornbread & Pumpkin Gingerbread or Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Bread.
RECIPE TIPS
- I prefer to line grease a loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray, then line with parchment paper and leave some paper hanging on two sides, because it’s the best way to remove the bread from the loaf pan.
- Don’t overmix the batter.
