Easy Cheese Danish

No need to knead doughs, or hours of waiting. You can prepare a delicious and unbelievable cheese danish in just a few steps.

This recipe suggests a glaze but that is completely optional. If preferred, you can use half of the ingredients for the filling, this way the danish will be thinner.

I am sure that with this recipe, you will never leave the house to buy Cheese Danish again!

How to make Cheese Danish From scratch?

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 13X9-inch baking pan with vegetable oil or butter. Lay a package of crescent rolls in the pan, pressing the dough with your fingers.
  2. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and whole egg until smooth and creamy.
  3. Spread the mixture over the crescent rolls, using a spatula to help.
  4. Lay the second package of crescent rolls on top of the mixture. Brush with the egg white (you might not need to use it all).
  5. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until the dough is golden brown.
  6. Prepare the glaze by mixing all ingredients until smooth. Let cool down for about 20 minutes then top with glaze.

Recipe tips;

  1. Adjust the amount of vanilla extract in the recipe to your liking
  2. You can add some lemon zest to the filling if you like more citric flavors
  3. You can use half of the measure of ingredients in the filling if you prefer a thinner danish.
  4. Prepare the glaze right before using it, as it might get dry if sitting for a long time.

Do you need to refrigerate cheese danish?

Yes. More important than keeping the flavors, it is about food safety. The mixture of eggs and cream cheese make it delicate, so keeping it in the fridge is a good idea.

The best is to eat the danish right from the oven but it is not always possible, so 1 or 2 days in the fridge would be alright.

How to store cheese danish?

Cheese Danish is fresher if consumed on the same day of the preparation. However, it would be safe to eat it in the next 2 days after baking.

Similar to cheesecake, it has eggs and cheese, so it needs to be stored in the fridge. A container with a lid works perfectly, preventing the danish from losing the texture.
