Homemade French Toast Sticks

I like French toast, but not the soggy super soft ones. I like mine toasty, and making French toast sticks, ensures a crispy and toasty outcome.

Ingredients

For the egg mixture:

  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 slices white bread, cut into thirds
  • Nonstick spray

For the cinnamon sugar:

  • ½ cup white granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, powdered sugar, maple syrup, and ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Cut each slice of bread into thirds and dip them into the egg mixture
  • In a small plate mix ½ cup granulated sugar with 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon until well combined. Heat a large skillet and coat with cooking spray. Once hot, brown the sticks on all sides. Remove them from the skillet and immediately roll them in the cinnamon sugar until all sides are covered with it.
